Q: Do stair rods hold my carpet in place on the stairs?
A: No. They are merely decorative and you should secure your carpet with another means such as gripper.

Q: Can you use stair rods and clips only with carpet?
A: No, they also work well with sisal, coir and flat weaves.

Q: Does the length of the stair rod include the finial ends?
A: Yes, the measurement listed is for the tip to tip measurement.

Q: Should my stair rods be the same width as my runner or longer?
A: It is most attractive if you can allow 5cms overhang on either side of your runner. For example, if your runner is 0.69m (27”) wide then you would order approximately 0.79cms wide stair rods.

Q: My staircase is really narrow, will stair rods fit?
A: All the stair rods we provide are made to measure. Simply select the correct length to suit your staircase and runner or cut them to length.

Q: Can I have a runner and stair rods on my spiral staircase?
A: Yes, but you will need to employ an expert fitter who will fit the runner first and then calculate the various dimensions of rods you require. You can then have them custom made.

Q: Do I need to have the edges of my runner finished?
A: It depends on the runner you purchase. Some runners are woven to the finished width and therefore require no additional edge finishing. However, some runners are cut from a wider carpet and therefore the edges would need either whipping or binding to stop them fraying. On natural fibres such as sisal and coir, you can request a border in a contrasting fibre such as cotton or tapestry or a hidden binding.

Q: Do I need to polish my rods and if so with what?
A: No, all the rods and clips we supply are coated and simply need wiping clean with a damp cloth. Do not use polish as this may mark your carpet and damage the rod or clip.

Q: We have a halfway landing on our stairs at which point they turn, how would a stair runner work?

A: You need a skilled carpet fitter, who will be able to fit a continuous runner up your stairs and around your landing with unobtrusive seams and mitred corners.

Q: How many stair rods do I need to order?
A: Count the number of stairs and add a stair rod for any hall or landing, from which the stairs rise i.e. you need a stair rod at ground or middle landing level.

Q: Will I be able to fit the stair rods myself?
A: It depends on the level of your DIY skills but it is relatively easy! Simply screw on the brackets equal distant all the way up your stairs. Otherwise, ask your fitter to install them when fitting your stair runner.

Q:How long does it take for my stair rods to be delivered?

A: Most of our stair rods are delivered by courier next day.

Questions?

Will our rods need polishing?
No, all our products have a clear laquer that prevents them from tarnishing. To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. DO NOT use metal cleaning products as this will damage the laquer, causing tarnishing and damage to any finish you may have chosen.

Can stair rods be altered once ordered?

Yes. They can be cut to length using a hacksaw.

Can the rods be used as the sole means of securing the carpet?
No, we strongly recommend that the carpet is installed by other means. Fitting the carpet correctly increases its lifespan and improves the safety of the stair case.
